Paolita Press Day

A  few  weeks  ago,  I  was  invited  to  Paolita  Press  Day  to  have  a  look  at  their  2013  swimwear  collection.

I  only  know  of  the  brand  from  their  exclusive  collections  on  ASOS and  for  my  first  ever  'press  day'  it  was  really  fun  to  go  through  the  story  behind  the  garments ,  inspiration  and  see  nearly  all  of  the  collection .

After  working  for  designers  like  McQueen, Anna  Paola  launched  her  own  swimwear  label  in  2010  designing  a  range  of   pieces  inspired  by  her  multicultural  heritage and  experiences.  Every  collection  includes  a bandeau  and halterneck  bikini as  well  as  an  all-in-one  suiting  the  needs  of  any  consumer.

In  this  collection,  we  see  plenty  of  cultural  references  with  a  twist  modernity,  uniqueness,  vibrant  colors  (and  also  sticking  to  some  tradition)  in  various  cuts  and  styles  suiting  any  figure - even  us  females  with  a  fuller  chest  area (bigger cups  even going  up  to  an  F).

Here  are  a  few  of  my  favorite  styles  from  the  lookbook ; ) -

Ok, I may  have  exaggerated  with  'a  few'  ^_^, but  the  variety  of  style  and  therefore  choice  makes  me  happy,  and  the  choice  of  overall's and  lace  dresses  just  finishes  that  summer  beach  look.  What is  your  favorite  look ?  Mine  has  to  be  the  Kenyan Masai tribe  look and  of  course  every  girl  needs  a striped  swimsuit  with  lace  finish hehe : D

Termite

For all you lucky people who are travelling out to hot countries during the Christmas holidays, this post might be of interest to you and worth looking at.

As part of their BA Fashion Womenswear course, Natalie Finch and Patricia Williams, with their partner Woodchuck have started with the launch of Termite producing a range of sunglasses. But these are not just any sunglasses, consumers have the chance to choose from a range of different colors and materials to produce their final pair of shades.

"We wanted Termite to fill a hole in the market, where we felt that recycled clothing and accessories gets a typical bland vision in peoples head- so we've aimed to turn that misconception around to create a youthful fun label that brings fashion together in turn with sustainability." - Finch

Termite was only launched last week and has just started with the launch of the sunglasses range where their  shades are made to order in a choice of seasonal frame stain, color lens and frame design. In due course (as in early next year hopefully) they will expand the brand into creating further fashion accessories. For a limited time only they are also including a glitter option.

Their website is under construction at the moment, but in order to get in touch with them; follow them on their twitter page @termitedesign , instagram- termitedesign or like their facebook fan page  'Termite' .

It's beginning to look a lot like ...

I honestly can't believe how fast the year has gone already ! December is next week and Christmas shopping is now on the agenda ! But Christmas shopping has always been a hard list to create simply because my objective of a Christmas present is something that means a lot between the  receiver, the actual gift, occasion and I. In the sense of buying something that isn't 'better' than the birthday present I had bought them that year, or the one I aim to buy next year - Get it?

So that's when I panic and end up buying perfumed sets ... but this year, my theme (hopefully if November payday is mighty generous to me lol) is to buy a range of intricate/ unusual items for my friends. Majority of my friends are art students so buying stuff around that area is always the direction I take as their minds are open. So buying gifts from mainstream/ high street stores are not a pressure of means of stress for me, as a new crush of mine now is buying from boutiques and vintage shops etc etc.

If you or your friends are into that sort of stuff then I have a website for you to check out ^_^

Global online marketplace Young Republic brings independent and emerging designers from various parts of the world like Tokyo, Sydney, NYC, Madrid and of course London.

And just in time for the season, they have launched their Christmas collection featuring hundreds of ideas of the best from their site for everyone ! So if you have any worries with buying for your guy/woman, little cousins or a new born, even for the home I suggest that you check out their 2012 Christmas Collection .  The price ranges from ££ - £££ , which is not so bad, bearing in mind that these garments and accessories are unique.

Melika M Launches Collaboration Collection with Naoya Nakayama

Womenswear designer Melika M (founded by Melika Imoru in 2009) has launched a new and exciting collection for her SS13 collection collaborating with LCF graduate Naoya Nakayama. The pair have teamed up to create a clean, crisp and modern collection which encompasses many of the key trends seen in the SS13 collections by Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Dior and many more.

The vibrantly on trend, yet timeless SS13 range with a hint of a sixties vibe includes monochrome dresses adopting sheer panels, asymmetric white dresses and structured jackets, clean and crisp crop tops, panelled skirts and stunning colour block sixties inspired frocks. The collection gives young women the chance to adopt summer trends straight from the catwalk without loosening the purse strings.

With years of experience in the fashion industry, Melika Imoru decided it would be a great idea to include a young up-and-coming designer, and with his stunning graduate collections at London College of Fashion, Naoya seemed the ideal choice. The pair offers each other invaluable qualities. Melika gives her years of experience and insider knowledge, and Naoya gives his fresh approach and revolutionary ideas.

Melika M is for the woman who definitely appreciates attention to detail, classic cuts with an upgrade to flavour. What I adore about this collection is that it's fresh, clean, easy going and has pure sophistication; If styled, there is no need for accessories because it's freshness make the look bold from any other! Looking through the collection, that 'luxury holiday' vibe also comes through my mind - and that is amazing (well to me) considering the £XX price tag . This collection has pieces for the beautiful spring days (That's if the England weather will it to us) and the crisp summer nights.

The Little Black Jacket - Photo Diary

Karl Lagerfeld hosted an exhibition for Chanel in a photographic way which dedicated to a book edition he created titled, ‘The Little Black Jacket: CHANEL’s classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld’. The exhibition opened at the Saatchi Gallery in London in October 2012. It followed on from Tokyo, New York, Taipei and Hong Kong, underlining the brand’s values of creativity, modernity and excellence.

The public discovered the versatility and timelessness of the iconic Chanel jacket through Karl Lagerfeld’s 113 photographs, modelled on a range of friends of the House, with each personality adapting the garment to reflect their own inimitable style - worn as a cape on singer Lily Allen, draped around model Stella Tennant, or even transformed into a vest on model Edie Campbell

Also running simultaneously with the exhibition, there were displays in Chanel’s Bond Street, Sloane Street and Brompton Cross boutiques a selection of jackets from the latest collections.

There was also a separate website dedicated to the exhibition journey, throughout 15 cities in the year.

What I personally loved from this exhibition was how Lagerfeld made the Little Black Jacket relevant for the 2012 consumer. Year after year, we see the famous jacket created by Chanel, re made  in a fresh way, but its underlined roots and heritage are visible. Also, the layout of the exhibition was enough, not overpowering but simply about the photographic space and the content.
